Fit For Life

Secondary education

Tranche d'age : Age 14 to 16

Fit for Life is an educational programme designed for students aged 14 to 16, built to prepare them practically for the economic realities of adult life.

Through 4 interactive sequences delivered in the classroom by a volunteer from the professional world, students explore essential and practical topics: personal finance, budgeting and salaries, insurance, credit and over-indebtedness, investment, sustainable finance and employability.

The programme goes beyond theory: through hands-on activities and the involvement of a professional sharing their real-world experience, young people make the connection between what they learn at school and what awaits them in their personal and professional lives.

Fit for Life gives young people the tools to better understand the economic world around them and helps them build their future with confidence.

Period: throughout the school year.

For schools

Participating in Fit for Life is straightforward to organise. Schools simply let us know how many classes would like to take part, and we take care of finding a volunteer for each of them.

Each class benefits from two visits by the volunteer, each lasting 2 school hours, scheduled approximately two weeks apart. In addition to the 4 main sequences, schools can opt for a third visit of 2 hours, during which the volunteer covers one additional module of their choice from three topics: sustainable finance, CV writing and job interview preparation, or personal and career orientation.

For volunteers

Would you like to get involved and share your professional experience with the next generation? Fit for Life offers you that opportunity in a simple and well-supported way.

Before getting started, each volunteer takes part in a 2-hour training session organised by JEL, designed to prepare you to deliver the programme in the classroom with confidence. All teaching materials are ready to use and provided in full by JEL.

The programme is delivered primarily in Luxembourgish, German and French. In some settings, English-speaking volunteers are also welcome.
