15th edition of the Engineering Trainee Days program

The 15th edition of the Engineering Trainee Days (ETD) enabled 82 students to accompany engineers and scientists for two days during their All Saints’ holiday break. Organized by Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg a.s.b.l., in collaboration with the Association of Engineers and Scientists of Luxembourg and the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth, the ETD took place from 3 to 7 November 2025. This year, 31 companies and research institutions opened their doors to the young participants.

According to Gilbert Engel, a member of the board of directors since the creation of Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg:

“The Engineering Trainee Days offer a unique experience. During these two days of internship, engineers have the opportunity to share the passion they have for their profession.”

The closing event, held on 2 December 2025, brought together the students, their parents, representatives from secondary schools, as well as partner companies and institutions. The event featured an inspiring speech by Kuldeep Barad, PhD in Engineering and Senior Systems Engineer at Redwire Space. In his playful and stimulating talk, he discussed decision-making systems and the art of structuring programming. He shared a reflection that resonated strongly with the audience:

“In a world that evolves so rapidly, it is difficult for advice to remain relevant. It is therefore essential to guide students using timeless principles that help them grow, whatever the circumstances. This is what I wanted to highlight in my talk: how to navigate a complex world when you are a young apprentice.”

The ETD offer students a unique opportunity to discover new professions and sectors, learn about different career paths, and understand the requirements of the professional world. These two days of immersion allow them to observe how a team operates, become familiar with the technical challenges faced by engineers and scientists, and appreciate the importance of collaboration, communication and rigor for succeeding in their professional lives.
