Junior Project Awards 2024
On Wednesday 26 June, the Junior Project Awards (JPA) 2024 were held at the Chamber of Commerce. The aim of the event is to highlight and reward the best projects undertaken by high school students during the 2023-2024 academic year.
An initiative open to two age categories!
Two competitions are being organised: one for the lower cycle (pupils in classes 7 to 5) and one for the upper cycle (pupils in classes 4 to 2).
Out of a total of 42 teams entered, the jury finally selected 15 finalists: 4 from the lower cycle (ESL, CDSE, LAML, LLIS) and 11 from the upper cycle (NOSL, MLG, EPF, ISL, LTL, LCE, LTETT, EPMC).
The terms and conditions were the same for both age categories.
Managing a project professionally
The aim of this action is to encourage project management, develop students’ autonomy and instil a taste for challenge. Given that the ability to plan and manage a project effectively is now one of the key skills required in all professional environments, this programme gives young people the opportunity to develop soft skills that are in demand in the world of work. To take part, students had to write and submit a full dossier and a video about their project, and present it to an audience and a panel of judges.

5 winners were selected
To determine the winners, the jury of experts used a number of evaluation criteria, including creativity, originality and complexity of the project, stage presentation and cooperation and communication.
For the higher cycle:
First prize went to the “No is No” team from École Privée Marie-Consolatrice. Sofia Cardoso Vila Chã, Lara Marques Vieira, Kiara Marques, Rita Estimado, Alicia Mendes Ribeiro, Inês De Castro, Inès Wiander, Beatriz Alves Lopes, Lori Fernandes Gaspar, Esmira Muric and Leila De Moura did their utmost to raise awareness, educate and promote a culture of respect, equality and dignity, while offering support to potential victims and encouraging the reporting of sexual harassment.
For this first place, the students will be able to attend a concert of their choice at l’Atelier.
Second prize went to the “Hair for Happiness” team from Lycée Technique de Lallange. The aim of the project by Sam Schneider, Melvin Muratovic, Omar Cikotic and Adel Kolic was to support people with cancer by asking their friends, colleagues and teachers to donate hair.
This team will be celebrating their victory with a game of Escape Game.
Third prize went to the “Orange Week” team from the Lycée Aline Mayrisch. Raising awareness of sexual violence is close to the hearts of Julia Baldato, Lilou Deischter, Charlotte Kries, Nina Nijenhuis Calmes and Fancesca Olivero, who set up activities to educate their colleagues on the subject. The aim was mainly to raise awareness, but also to provide advice and ensure that the pupils in their school knew how to behave in different situations and where to go for help.
The team was rewarded with a Kinepolis gift voucher.
For the lower cycle, it’s the Maacher Lycée’s “Escape Room MLG from Dragon R&W” project. Benjamin Gaspard’s project aimed to raise young people’s awareness of sustainability and technology through a logic and mystery game, played partly online.
Benjamin has won two tickets to Le’h Adventures.
This year, the jury also awarded a “Coup de Coeur”. It was awarded to the “Glutenfree Cookbook” project from Fieldgen Private School. Marla Georges, Jamie Lucci, Nuria Ribeiro Couto, Ben Quiring, Eva Simon, Rojda Gül and Chloé Hayward Besnard created this project, which aims to help people suffering from gluten intolerance by developing a specific cookbook.
Team members will be able to celebrate this unexpected victory with Kinepolis admission tickets.
