An inspiring Innovation Camp to rethink the future of work with young people.

On 24 March 2026, Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg, in collaboration with A&O Shearman, organised an Innovation Camp at the firm’s offices in Kirchberg. The event brought together 43 young people aged between 16 and 19, from various secondary schools across Luxembourg, to tackle a topical challenge: imagining the future of work.

The challenge set by A&O Shearman invited participants to reflect on the following question: “How could companies design working environments, tools or programmes that align with young people’s concept of success (for example, work-life balance, a sense of purpose, and impact) whilst boosting the company’s performance?”

Divided into 10 teams, the students were supported throughout the day by five firm staff members, who coached them to develop practical solutions tailored to the realities of the professional world. At the end of this intensive day of reflection and creativity, the teams presented their projects to a five-member jury comprising:

  • Fabian Beullekens, Partner at A&O Shearman,
  • Victoria Woestmann, Counsel at A&O Shearman
  • Magali Maillot, HR Director & COO Luxembourg at A&O Shearman
  • Laurent Derkum, Director of HR, Marketing/Communications and ESG at Raiffeisen Bank
  • Caroline Chartier, Head of People Experience at Ferrero’s headquarters

About the Innovation Camp

An Innovation Camp is an intensive one-day workshop organised in collaboration with a partner company. The pupils, divided into teams, work on a real-world challenge and develop solutions with the support of professionals.

At the end of the day, they present their ideas to a panel of judges. This experience enables them to develop key skills such as creativity, teamwork, critical thinking and pitching, whilst gaining an insight into the world of work.

Innovative ideas recognised

1st place – Team « ErA&O »

A global innovation programme aimed at bringing together young professionals to share ideas, collaborate across different offices and actively help shape the future of the firm.
The team consists of four students: Lia Dos Santos Salvador, Uma Kurtagic, Augustin Pirlet and Kiara Dias.

2nd place – Team « The Law of Success »

A series of innovative strategies to boost engagement amongst young talent, including:
AI-assisted administration to automate repetitive tasks, a programme promoting responsibility and purpose, enabling employees to play an active part in CSR initiatives, sports days and competitive programmes to strengthen team spirit and motivation.
The team members are Apolline Nevouet, Johnny Long, Pierre Sauvegrain and Manon Poëzévara-Couque.

3rd place – Team « Timehub »

An artificial intelligence-based app designed to help users achieve a better work-life balance through a smart calendar with a built-in goal-tracking system. The solution was developed by Emma Louarn, Gediminas Balčiūnas, Martin Arenas-Gomes, Samuel Labignette and Tiago Serra Rodrigues.

In addition, a “Coup de Coeur” prize was awarded to the team comprising Anastácia Popova, Arnout De Meyere, Edouard Segui Rouanet and Xamantha Gavadan for their proposal to improve the in-house time-tracking software. Their idea involved automating time recording by using artificial intelligence to detect completed tasks, and incorporating a feature encouraging lawyers to take regular breaks (“recovery blocks”), in order to prevent burnout and improve work-life balance.
